這次總統大選原有機會打一場高格調的選戰，透過論辯，把各黨政見主張拿出來比高下，可惜！朝野主要政黨都讓人民失望。選戰剩下不到一個月，選戰焦點幾乎都在爆料、扒糞，對國家大政、兩岸關係的討論與關注少之又少，而且，負面選舉比例愈高，選後社會愈難和解，這種情況不管誰贏，全民都是輸家。
今年10月10日國慶日，民進黨主席暨總統候選人蔡英文首度參加馬政府任內的國慶典禮，社會不分藍綠，普遍叫好，並認為作為國家未來可能的領導人，認同中華民國，參加中華民國國慶，能夠有效的消弭統獨爭議，對社會非常正向。
檢驗、抹黑 雙重標準
朝野兩大黨的主席朱立倫和蔡英文，不但握手寒暄，還互動熱絡，並共同認為「希望台灣民主能再向上提升」。當時朝野和樂融融，親民黨主席暨總統候選人宋楚瑜也與朱、蔡友善互動，讓社會大眾不禁興起2016總統大選或能擺脫過去「負面選舉」的窠臼，真的讓台灣民主向上提升。
但是，總統大選打到現在，每個總統候選人口中都說要「正面選舉」，但各黨的選戰攻防卻又充斥「負面選舉」；各黨對對手的攻擊、批評，自己都解釋為「檢驗」，但對於對手的炮火統統定調為「抹黑、烏龍」，其中最具代表性的莫如國民黨副總統候選人王如玄的軍宅案、國民黨總統候選人朱立倫之妻高婉倩的養地炒地案，以及民進黨總統候選人蔡英文的炒地案。
監察院曾經查王如玄的買賣軍宅案，結論是「沒有違法，也沒有明顯的道德瑕疵」，因軍宅案爆發後，王如玄堅持這個口徑，自認沒有問題，第一時間也沒有想解釋清楚到底買賣過多少軍宅，以及是否有誠實申報並繳稅。
選戰倒數 別再口水戰
王如玄及國民黨顯然失算，軍宅案延燒3周，王如玄才在競選總部主委胡志強的「點醒」下，召開記者會對外界解釋。在此之前，綠營天天爆料，政論節目日日熱議，縱然軍宅案本身並無不法，搞得王如玄猶如千夫所指。
高婉倩與蔡英文的炒地案也是沸沸揚揚，彷彿大打一場「烏賊戰」。雖然負面選舉的主攻者都不是正副總統候選人本人，但這幾個人既然角逐大位，難道對選舉的走調沒有責任？最後一個月，如果真的關心國家未來，趕快回到國家大政的選戰主軸。
